How do I Connect the SafePal Hardware Wallet to my SafePal Account?
Securing your Funds with Cold Storage.
In my last post on SafePal, we walked through how to setup the SafePal wallet (see below).
In this post we are going to walk through adding a SafePal Hardware wallet. The SafePal Hardware wallet arrived a couple days ago. I opted for the leather wallet as well.
The presentation and feel of the wallet overall has a very nice feel. I am currently in a farm on the Hot Wallet. I would like to move my farm to the hardware (cold) wallet for better protection. More on this to come later. I have an entire series of posts planned.
NOTE: Please take your time setting this up. It is not as easy as other hardware wallets I have setup.
It is a very soft leather wallet and I like the feel of it.
Let’s walk through the setup. Open SafePal wallet and click the wallet icon below on the far left.
Next click the + sign.
Tap Hardware Wallet.
You are prompted with your next steps to move forward. You must first activate the hardware wallet.
Tap Next and enter your security password when you first configured your hot wallet. Next, scan the QR code that appears on the phone from your hardware wallet. Tap Next and enter your Authentication code.
Tap Authenticate and the below appears.
The hardware wallet will show success and you are now ready to configure it.
You are now prompted with how to use the buttons.
Tap Let’s Begin |Create Now | Create New Wallet | Choose Number of Mnemonic (24 recommended by Everything Nervos).
Next, write down the seed phrase on the piece of paper given. Never share this phrase with anyone or you will get your funds stolen.
The hardware wallet is leaning up against a Christmas candle. A friend of mine retired and he makes candles as a hobby. 50% of the proceeds goto charity which you can pick. Check out his candles at Space Coast Candles.
Click OK on the hardware wallet when you are done recording the phrases. Next, you are prompted to verify your seed phrase.
Click Next and verify all words. A list will appear for each of the 24 words. Tap the correct word.
Once verified, you can set your pin by tapping Set my Pin.
After setting your pin, your hardware wallet is configured and you can name your wallet. Tap Name your Wallet | Enter Wallet Name | Tap OK.
We are now ready to connect the hardware wallet to the SafePal app. Open SafePal and follow below:
A QR code appears. You will scan that QR code with your hardware wallet and pair the device.
Confirm Pair and enter your pin code.
Tap Next and scan the QR code from your hardware wallet. It presents you with dynamic QR codes and scanning it adds the Hardware Wallet to SafePal.
In my next post, I will show you how to update the hardware wallet firmware in order to add the Nervos (CKB), Nervos (Godwoken), and YOK hardware wallet. If you don’t update, you will not be able to add those coins.
