If you are using the Neuron Hot Wallet, it is so important that you secure your seed phrase. We will walk through setting up a wallet in Neuron and then backing it up and restoring it.
Let's walk through creating a new wallet in Neuron. Please see the following if you are downloading and installing the Neuron wallet from Scratch.
Note: It is important to let the node fully sync prior to sending funds.
Open the Neuron Wallet and choose the following: Neuron | Preferences. Select Wallet | New Wallet.
Creating a New Wallet
Your seed phrase will be auto-generated. Do not share this with anyone or you WILL lose your funds. For this post, I will share the seed phrase.
sleep figure rice refuse print hotel ready later imitate genre memory annual
After writing it down, please click Next and re-enter your seed phrase. Click Next and Name your Wallet and add a strong password.
You now have a new wallet on the Desktop Neuron Wallet. Let's send 1000 CKB to the newly created wallet.
Click Next and Enter your Password to send.
Click Confirm and the transaction will send funds to your newly created wallet upon confirmation.
Now that we have funds in the Neuron wallet, lets go ahead and backup Neuron wallet. From the Neuron Wallet, select Backup | Backup Current Wallet.
Note: Make sure you have the correct wallet selected.
Restoring from a .json file is much safer than restoring a wallet via your Seed Phrase. If you restore via .JSON file, you must have the password you originally created to restore the wallet.
Let's walk through the restore, Open Neuron and select Import Wallet | Import from Keystore.
Browse to .JSON file and enter a wallet name and the password. Click Submit.
The wallet restores successfully.
Now let's delete the wallet and restore via the Wallet Seed I gave you. Open Neuron and select Import Wallet | Import Wallet Seed.
Enter a Name, new password and click Next.
Click Next and the Wallet appears with the new password you entered. Do you see how dangerous it is to let your seed phrase get out?
I am leaving 5.00 in CKB on this wallet. The first person to grab the money, please comment.

Hello ,
Thanks for your good work and very helpful posts on ckb.
I have a question - I have setup a Neuron wallet on desktop.
Does this mean that my private key is saved somewhere on the hard disk and can be hacked ?
Tried to search the web but could not find an answer
